San Pablo

San Pablo, a suburb within the San Francisco Bay Area of California, has a population of about 29,000 according to the latest census data. This small city has a lot to offer, though. Located in Contra Costa County, this city is very close to San Francisco, and as such, can effectively combine a small suburb feel with the big city atmosphere. This is one of the great things about the Bay Area and San Pablo is one of the best examples here.

Even though the city is less than three square miles, there are many businesses here. The biggest employer is the Doctors Medical Center with just under 1,000 employees. There are also many restaurants, schools, shopping centers, and even a casino is located here. If you are looking for entertainment, then, San Pablo packs a big punch with its tiny size.

This area was claimed by Spain in the 18^th century and was originally used as a grazing area. The city in its current form was not incorporated until 1948, despite the fact that many people had been settling in this area for more than a century beforehand. The first post office here was created in 1854. Today, this area continues to grow in population.
